'Tis Blessing, I Speak {12}

Resilience.

It is yours.

That you would see it and know it,
that you would choose it, claim it,
breathe it and be it.
~~

It seems to me that an undivided mind
leads to an undivided heart.

~~
I told you once that God had given me a heart for you.
This, of course, scared the patootie out of you.
[Yes, I made up that word.]

But listen: I understand that fear,
when you've worked so hard to hold yourself together
and any type of intimacy makes it feel like you might die.
I understand that fear.

I, of course, had no idea what I was talking about then.
That was well before I understood a thing.
I just knew: Unfailing love. Keep.reaching.out.
~~
One day not long ago
I walked into a church service not my own,
in anticipatory tears, knowing somehow:
God was going to speak.

I closed my eyes and tuned my heart my mind,
to wait for Him. And then,

I saw you standing in front of a large large room.
From the center of your heart radiated light,
beams and beams and beams of it,
straight and narrow and pointing clear.
Behind you stood the shadow of the cross,
and I saw: To it, your heart was nailed.

And God said: He will be a light to many.

An undivided heart,
refracting out to a multitude of hearts.

And once again I looked and I said
[because always always this I say]:
Man, Your heart for him is strong.
~~

So today, I pray resilience of heart
over for and through you.
His heart is for you; so [and so!] is mine.

Come, my friend, to the fullness of your life.

May the Lord bless and keep you,
may he make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you,
and turn his face toward you, and give you his peace.
