Question: Who are these folks?
[Answer: Lisa, Geoff, Frankie!]
Question: Why are they sitting in my kitchen?
[Answer: It's a Hash Out Life time of year!]
Late last Friday night I opened my door to Frankie,
who promptly nosed his nose into every nook and cranny he could find. Lisa and Geoff followed close behind, and settled themselves in front of the front room fireplace for a weekend defined by apples and catching up.
[Apples round 1: Friday night, apples, cheese, crackers, wine]
Sleep came crashing in eventually, and we succumbed with promises of a yummy breakfast the next morning.
[Apples round 2: Saturday morning, applesauce waffles, sauteed apple-cinnamon compote, coffee, more coffee]
Lisa and I left the still-sleepy Geoff at home,
and went for some girl time,
foot massages, [even more] coffee, magazines, and pretty toes.
We stumbled home in our not-made-for-fall flip-flops, and whisked Geoff (and, finally, our shoes) off to Way Fruit Farm for some lunch and local charm.
[Apples round 3: Saturday afternoon, pulled pork sandwiches with a side of apple donut, apple cider]
We returned home for couch lounging
and continuance of the catching up.
[Apples round 4: Apple cider tea]
Early that evening I put them in my car and took them over to my friends Matthew and Theresa's house for a fall themed gathering, introducing them to people in my life,
and M & T's photo-booth-worthy back yard.
[Lisa + photo-booth-worthy=ridiculous, yet fun]
[Apples round 5: um...pumpkins!]
After awhile we parted the party,
and returned home for a Fall HOL tradition:
[Hello Margarita Master.]
[We're glad you're here.]
Margaritas and Dinner-ness:
This year's goodness [did not involve apples]:
Mexican inspired avant-garde cuisine.
[The cuisine wasn't the only thing that was inspired...]
We reveled in memories, news, laughter, [the tequila], etc.
before it was time to whip out dessert:
[Apples round 6: Saturday night, Apple upside down cake, coffee, again]
We nestled into the coziness of the furniture and each other,
keeping up the catching up,
[and the class] into the wee hours.
The weekend finished out with church and lunch
[Apples round 7: Sunday afternoon, left-over apple upside down cake!]
until it was time to pack the car and part our ways.
We consoled ourselves with the realization that--
though it may be far less apple-y--
January HOL is not that far away.
Hooray!
