Perhaps you've heard it said, that where there is suffering, perseverance is born, and where perseverance is pursued, character grows, until there springs forth a panoply of hope.
Perhaps you've heard it said.
Perhaps, though, you've been faced with something in which you are being asked to persevere. And, perhaps, you do not want to.
You see the end goal, you can make out where this might take you.
The choice is yours, it's clear. And you can see how making the choice will grow you, stretch you, bring about some of that character.
But you are looking at it all, a little indifferently. You are not quite sure. You think that maybe things are just fine the way they are, that maybe you don't need to put in the effort it would take to make it to the end.
You think: What would it take, to persevere to the finish line?
It would take believing that the end is worth it, I guess.
I guess they say that's hope.
